The Filthy Fox Auction Club

The Filthy Fox Auction Club is an on- and offline art auction platform based in London and was founded by my friend Paula Pfitzner and me.

Being part of the eco-system of the art college, it has become painfully clear to us how difficult the start of an artistic career within the inaccessible art market can be.

The need for more opportunities for a broader range of artists is what triggered the creation of the Filthy Fox Auction Club. Through our fun pop-up auction events (off- and online) across London, we wish to empower early career artists by selling their artworks directly through us.

The collaborators for this project were:
Paula Pfitzner, Parn Boonyamanee

My responsibilities lay in:
Co-Founder and Co-Director, Design and  Project Management, Webdesign, PR and Marketing, Curation, Sales, Social media

Our Concept

The Filthy Fox Auction Club aims to democratize and dedust the rigid art and auction market and make space for new voices. Our core values are transparency, playfulness, fairness, accessibility, and inclusivity. We want our artists and art buyers to feel 100% at ease and help them to connect.

The artists we showcase come right from London’s finest art colleges: RCA, Slade, Goldsmiths, Chelsea, Camberwell, CSM etc.. They will be the one who decide on a starting price that feels comfortable to them. The prices of the artworks will range from approximatly £ 50 up until £2000. 100% of the hammer price will be transferred back to the artists while Filthy Fox takes a 20% commission on top of the hammer price as a buyers premium.

Panel discussion
@Painters Hall on the 24.04.2024

In April 2024 we had the honor to speak during a panel discussion with Matt Carey-Williams (‘Matt Carey-Williams’ Gallery) and Will Jarvis (‘Getrude’ App, ‘The Sunday Painters’ Gallery).  In the prestigious Painters Hall we talked about sales and how to navigate the art landscape as an early stage artist.

The Second Filthy Fox Auction
@Greatorex Street on the 09.12.2023

With the artist-led space Greatorex Street providing the perfect playground for over 200 people attending, a curated exhibition of 44 works from 14 different artists and two exciting performances the second edition of FFAC was a great success!

This time the amazing performers Tu Pham and Sol Mussa surprised the audience with their foxy appearances and there were strong sales again. 80% of all artworks were sold and the Fillthy Fox community contiunes to build.

The First Filthy Fox Opening & Auction @ Batsford Gallery 17.11. & 19.11.2022

Our first auction took place at the Batsford Gallery in Hoxton in November 2022. With the performances of Katya The Artist (singer-/songwriter), and Qingqing Liu (performance artist from RCA), 90% of all works sold, approximately 180 people attending, and a very happy bunch of our 14 artists.

As we hosted two unforgettable nights for London’s Art Scene, connecting our artists with a new audience of collectors,  people are now asking for more... and we, of course, want to deliver again!

Runner Up Nomination
@ UAL Creative Enterprise Awards
07.07.2022

In 2020 we were awarded ‘Runner Up’ (second place) from the Creative Enterprise Awards to help us fund our first auction event. Pip Jamieson, founder of the creative networking platform “The Dots”, handed us our winner package.

We are excited that this tough jury has recognized the potential of The Filthy Fox Auction Club in such an early stage.
